I am curious about the Shopify construction service process.

During offline meetings to build shopping malls, we provide a general introduction to Shopify. The construction period is approximately 3 weeks, and the schedule may be adjusted depending on whether the customer adds features.

What the customer needs to prepare

  • Google account (G suit) and credit card that allows overseas payments

  • Domain and brand BI (logo, slogan, domain - also available on Shopify)

  • Payment service information such as PayPal

  • Sales product information (titles, images, product descriptions, SKUs, category classifications, etc. optimized for target countries)

  • Site banner image and content

  • Social channel account (social channel account to be linked to sites such as Facebook and Instagram)

  • Delivery company selection and delivery policy

* The apps and linked services that we install by default will be explained in detail during the meeting.

Building service process

Offline meeting > Contract and payment > Start of construction > 1st meeting (operations training) > 2nd meeting (marketing training) > Confirmation and project completion

* After signing the contract, we will send you a file requesting information needed to proceed with the project. During the project, we will deliver Shopify guide materials, theme files, theme guides, marketing materials, and competitive (benchmarking) site materials.

* Additional maintenance or operation services may be requested after the project is completed.

Shopify

I am worried about overseas shopping mall marketing. What should I do?

Overseas Internet is Google-based. Overseas shopping malls can be divided into SEO (search engine optimization), SEM (advertising), and social marketing (social channels, influencer marketing) based on web standards. Shopify is a platform optimized for web standards and SEO, allowing you to run a shopping mall without an in-house developer.

Additionally, you can easily link internal marketing such as abandoned cart, Google AMP, FOMO, review automation, and email marketing with Google Shopping and Facebook ads to generate traffic. Marketing methods are explained in detail through examples in offline meetings and the Shopify Master Course.

I am curious about the actual operating costs of operating Shopify.

Shopify operating costs can be divided into Shopify plans, transaction fees, and app usage fees.

Shopify usage plans and transaction fees
Shopify plans are divided into Basic Shopify ($29/mo), Shopify ($79/mo), and Advanced Shopify ($299/mo), and the “functional” differences are not significant. The difference is the number of staff accounts and whether or not gift cards are used. What Korean merchants need to check is the transaction fee, which is 2.0 of the payment amount (order amount) depending on the plan for payments other than Shopify Payment, a payment method such as PayPal (English-speaking corporations are required to use it). %, 1.0%, and 0.5% are charged. Usage fees and transaction fees are charged once a month and may be charged in advance when a certain amount is reached. The amount charged will be automatically paid to the card registered with Shopify. You can upgrade each plan at any time, and if the average price of the products you sell is more than $50, we recommend the “Shopify ($79/mo) plan.”

Paid app usage fees
If you use a paid app, you will be charged a monthly fee for using the paid app.

* Because Shopify is a CDN service, there is no need to use a separate hosting service. Considering the operating costs, the actual operating costs can be said to be much lower than WooCommerce or Magento.

What payment methods can I use on Shopify?

Just as Korea uses PG companies like Inicis and simple payment systems like Naver Pay and Kakao Pay, there are numerous payment companies in each country overseas. The Shopify system is already interconnected with systems ranging from global payment companies to local payment companies. If you have a merchant account with the relevant payment company, you can easily link it. However, the reality is that it is not easy to open a merchant account as a Korean business because most global payment companies require registration as an English-speaking corporation or corporation in the relevant country.

When operating as a Korean business

PayPal: PayPal is a global electronic wallet service used by more than 250 million people around the world. Payments can be received through PayPal Checkout (formerly Express Checkout) among PayPal services. Customers can make credit card payments through PayPal even if they don't have a PayPal account. Additionally, through integration with Shopify, you can reduce purchase abandonment by using the dynamic checkout (a feature that allows you to complete payment on the product page without going to the checkout page).

PSP: PSP stands for Payment Service Provider and refers to a form of providing integrated payment services that bundle credit card payments, local payments, and simple payments. A representative PSP service that can be used by Korean businesses is Paymentwall. In addition, 300cbt provides a payment wall linking service.

If operating as a U.S. or English-speaking business

Shopify operates its own payment method, “Shopify Payment.” Shopify Payment is a payment method optimized for the Shopify system and can be used if a business is registered in the countries below. Shopify Payments provides not only credit card payments, but also services such as Sofort, Klarna, and iDEAL, and simple payment services such as G pay and Apple Pay.

  • North America: USA, Canada

  • Oceania: Australia, New Zealand

  • Europe: UK, Ireland, Germany, Netherlands, Spain, Denmark

  • Asia: Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong

Is it possible to operate a domestic site (Korean target) with Shopify?

yes it's possible.

Shopify has been developed so that merchants around the world can use it according to their target countries. (The app also allows multi-language settings such as English and Japanese based on Korea and multi-currency settings).

In April 2020, the domestic PG Inicis was linked. https://www.shopify.ca/payment-gateways/south-korea

*Additional linkage is possible for some overseas PGs

I would like to provide multi-language and various currency services with Shopify or operate sites for multiple countries.

Shopify supports one domain per merchant account. If you need multi-language support or various currency settings, you can set them up using the app.

Multi-language

Any language in the world can be added based on English, and additional languages can be entered for each product, collection, or theme. Additionally, you can automatically display Vietnamese to customers connecting from Vietnam and display products in Vietnamese currency. IP-based language and currency settings for each country's connection require subdomain settings.

example)

https:www.mysite.com (US target. English, USD)

https:jp.mysite.com (Japanese target, Japanese, JPY)

https:vn.mysite.com (Vietnam target, Vietnamese, VND)

Muti-Currency

Various currency provision settings are also provided by third-party themes and can be set through related apps. However, customers can check the product price in the converted currency, but actual payment is made in the default currency set in Shopify. (If you set up “Shopify Payment” while using the Shopify Plus plan, payments can be made in that currency.)

Operate multiple sites with Shopify

If you want to operate a site in each country, such as a .com site for US targets or a co.jp site for Japanese targets, you must select each Shopify plan. In this case, the advantage is that product prices, shipping, payments, promotions, etc. can be localized for each country.

Shopify Plus The plan allows you to create a total of 10 sites, so if you plan to operate a site in each country, we recommend that you consider the Shopify Plus plan.
